Audi Leads the Charge—Literally

How Audi Is Planning for a More Electrified Future:

When you look at your kids, you see the future—and so does Audi. As the world transitions away from fossil fuels and toward a more sustainable future, Audi is on the forefront, leading the charge, so to speak. How is it doing this? By developing the Audi e-tron line and investing heavily in an electrified future.

Recently, Audi's executives committed to a beefed-up electrification plan, calling for battery-electric vehicles to make up one third of Audi's global sales volume by 2025.

Leading the pack on that front would be two anticipated models, the e-tron Quattro and the e-tron Sportback, the latter of which made its first appearance at the Shanghai Auto Show. For now, we still have to wait to see either of these on the road in production form—the rumor mill holds that they could be coming our way sometime in 2019, but we'll have to wait and see if that remains true.

Until then, the 2018 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron hybrid is your go-to green option in the Audi lineup!

If you have a lot of time to wait—say, five years or so—you might be in for a very special treat, as Audi's chief of R&D believes solid-state battery technology could arrive within that timeframe, which would change the playing field for all-electric vehicles and overall design. Seems like we all have a lot to look forward to!
